Is Hoodia Gordonii banned in the US?

No, it is not banned. It is legal to buy and possess. However, importing it requires CITES permits, and identifying established medical claims is illegal.

Does Hoodia show up on drug tests?

Pure Hoodia should not. However, admitted adulterated products in the past have contained amphetamine derivatives or Sibutramine, which WOULD show up.

How long does it take to work?

In theory (and anecdotal reports), the P57 molecule requires about 45-60 minutes to affect the hypothalamus. It is not instant.

Is Hoodia the same as Garcinia Cambogia?

No. Hoodia is a succulent believed to signal satiety to the brain. Garcinia is a fruit extract (HCA) believed to inhibit fat production. Both suffer from poor clinical evidence.

Why did Hoodia disappear from stores?

A combination of the Unilever project cancellation (2008), massive fraud investigations, and consumers realizing the products in stores were fake.
